"My grandmother had MS and my grandfather had Alzheimers so it’s the reason I run. "I've had MS since '99 and I've met so many great people. It's inspirational. As much as MS has been a burden, its also a blessing," added Nortan.

"I was on mile 25.5 as a runner. It was my sixth Boston Marathon. I got through Kenmore and then I got to Mass. Ave. Bridge and that's where they stopped us. "We just arrived in Boston yesterday and as we got off the plane we saw some runners leaving. We could tell by their blue and yellow jackets. There was a certain sadness in them. "I was at the courthouse today and all of a sudden the alarms went off and everyone said 'code red, code red.' We went down the stairwell from the seventh floor and they told us to stay away from windows. "On top of everything else this week, it added to the stress," she added.

"There's a wierd stillness in Boston. It's solemn. "It's really scary going through Copley everyday and seeing police tape, hundreds of officers, and National Guard with military weapons. I never thought I would experience that. It's been difficult understanding that this is the world we live in now," added Brown.
