Suzanne Tompkins (left) and her children Chris (center) and Dayneece (right) of Hyde Park enjoyed some hot chocolate and coloring books after watching the huskies mush. Suzanne said she learned a lot about the breed from the visiting mushers but was surprised by the dogs’ size, saying they were “smaller than we thought.”

Andrea Flaherty (left), president of the Patriot Siberian Husky Rescue, and her dog Lobo greeted their furry friends as they finish up a mushing session.
“I joined as an outlet for my dog,” said Flaherty (pictured), speaking about her involvement with the Boston Snow Dogs. She joined the group three years ago to help her adopted dog Lobo become more social. Before finding a permanent home with Flaherty, Lobo bounced between five different owners in a span of three years.

In addition to the dog sledding demonstrations, the event also provided visitors with plenty of educational materials about the Siberian husky breed.

While most of the dogs at the event towed sleds, this creative canine could be seen towing its owner’s bicycle.
