Jae's Cafe and Grill

Jae's in the South End offers pan-Asian cuisine with a touch of fun. Your young ones might actually be persuaded to try some eel if it comes in the whimsical caterpillar roll (right), or they could order a bento boxful of avocado sushi ($8.95) off the children's menu. Regardless of what you choose, this Jae's location has a separate room reserved for families to eat in whenever the restaurant is open. (Jae's also has a location in Brookline.)

In the area: It's a quick stroll from Jae's to the historic Symphony Hall. Think sushi before the Pops performance.

520 Columbus Ave., Boston. 617-421-9405. www.jaescafe.com
