Petsi Pies

You may have tried Renee McLeod's pies, but did you know she also sells cupcakes based on her grandmother's and mother's cake recipes at her Somerville and Cambridge bakeries? She likes them so much that she and her 17-year-old son sometimes sneak into the store after closing for a frosted snack.

Our take: McLeod's cupcakes are generous in size and the coconut variety is dense, not too sweet, and smothered in shredded coconut.
