Paula Tierney wanted to beautify the North End, specifically the women who live there. So she opened A Matter of Face, a boutique carrying high-end skin-care and cosmetic lines from Bliss, Darphin, Paula Dorf, and more. Weekly after-hours "makeup-madness" events are convenient for after-work shopping and perfect for gal-pal bonding, as are monthly Sunday "beauty brunches."
