Sure, the tone sounds a little somber, but look at how beautiful that view is! (see picture above). Tonight, at the 10th Annual Lantern Festival in at Lake Hibiscus in Jamaica Plain, visitors will be able to build paper lanterns and send them across the water.
According to the website, it's based on a Japanese tradition where the lanterns are used to send messages to the "other side." (Think of it as an old-school form of text messaging.)
If you're a believer in the afterlife (like yours truly), or just want to take in a what will probably be one pretty evening - check it out, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free, but parking costs $10.
