No rain on the Parrothead parade

Posted by Courtney Hollands September 5, 2008 09:06 AM

Attention Parrotheads: In an effort to outsmart HurricaneTropical Storm Hanna and her destructive ways, the start time for tomorrow's Jimmy Buffett show has been changed from 8 p.m. to 3 p.m. Mr. Margaritaville wants smooth sailing — no rough seas to shake the mellow mood.

The Comcast Center gates will open bright and early at 8 a.m., so you might want to do a dry-run with your portable blenders tonight before bed.

There are some tickets still available on Ticketmaster.com and a quick search on craigslist.org revealed plenty of sellers.

  1. Next year, he should move it back to BEFORE Labor Day so people can actually attend.

  1. Hey AJ - if your busy post-Labor Day Saturday schedule precludes you from attending the show, us real Parrotheads don't want you there anyway. Stay how and sip Chardonnay while you watch the US Open tennis tournament with the other soccer moms.

  1. AJ, the concerts were Thursday night and Saturday. Since your summer vacation ended, if you couldn't stay out late on a school night, then the Saturday should have worked for you. Even better, since it's now at 3 PM, you'll be home before dark!

  1. Save us all the hoopla and just go away -- and take your pack of parrot-headed, cheeseburger-loving fools with you.

  1. Hey AJ, tickets go on sale in March... plenty of time (5-6 months) to figure out what to do about "actually" being able to attend. (great show last night, btw)

  1. I was there last night, and it was awesome. I am going again tomorrow. I hope hannah hits hard right in the middle of the concert. I'll be prepared for wahtever it has to offer, oh, and I'll be wasted away

  1. Saw him last year (and paid a fortune) for the first time.

In all seriousness, what is the big deal?? He was
sooooo boring. Although most of the drunks in the
    crowd didn't really notice.

  1. It seemed to me that those who had covered seats did not have nearly as much fun as those of us who were soaked. If rain can dampen your Buffett experience, then you don't belong there anyway. It was a fantastic day.

  1. We attended our first JB concert on 9/6/08 in Mansfield. Arrived at noon for tailgate event which was unique, colorful and rain-free. JB arrived on stage at 3:20PM and sang until 5:45PM. Our seats were under the shed Section 6 ($400 per pair), the acoustics were horrible. We and the other concert goers could hear the music (if one did not know the lyrics they would not have been able to hear the words)

None of us (ages 20-50) could hear his jokes and tales. Eventully, some of us went to the area before the lawn seats where the acoustics were excellent. and made friends with the usher so he would not demand that we return to our seats. There were on and off spells of drenching rain but didn't stop the parrotheads in the lawn section. We will probably attend in the future if JB comes up with some new songs. Can anyone identify the special guest in the audience whom JB introduced? Rumor has it that it was Ted Kennedy.

  1. We were there Saturday and it was great!! They make bloody mary's for 8 am drinking! and folks had breakfast cooking on the grill. I had great covered seats for the concert, but the people on the lawn/mud were making mudslides and having a ball.

3 PM was a perfect time! When the show was over-instead of fighting our way out of the lot, we stoked up the grill and hung out till 8 pm with the lot neighbors. Just in time for bed for us old geezers.
