Times are tough, Boston. Literally and figuratively, this winter's much colder than the last – check Page One. And there's that other thing, what's it called...oh yes, the economy. But there's also Passion Pit, a happy-go-lucky electro-pop outfit we can call our own.

So cheer up.

Hailing from schools around the greater Boston area, Passion Pit signed to Frenchkiss last year and have since begun a righteous ascent up the indie ranks. Lots of people like to compare them to MGMT. Really, their music sounds like colorful confetti exploding out of the most delicious birthday cake ever.

Seriously. And better yet, these good synth-Samaritans are playing the Middle East Downstairs on Feb. 6. With lyrics like, "Better things are coming / I swear there's truth in that," hand claps, and enough electronic instruments to outfit a very small orchestra, you can't go wrong.
