Here's a way to vent your political frustrations and entertain folks in the process. The HONK! Festival of street bands uses concerts, processions, and a parade to fight injustice and hatred -- and to have fun. -- June Wulff, Globe Staff

Oct. 4: Pre-festival concert, 7 p.m. in Union Square, Somerville.

Oct. 5: 4-7 p.m., make your own lantern (for use in nighttime parade) in Hodgkins-Curtin Park, Somerville. 7-9 p.m., Lantern Parades, Hodgkins-Curtin Park to Davis Square, Somerville. 7:30 p.m.-1 a.m., Kick-off at Johnny D's, 17 Holland St., Somerville.

Oct. 6: 12:30-9 p.m., festival in Davis Square, Somerville.

Oct. 7: noon-2 p.m., HONK! Parade from Davis Square, Somerville to Harvard Square, Cambridge. 2:15-6 p.m., HONK! at Oktoberfest in Harvard Square, Cambridge. 8 p.m.-midnight, concert in Sanders Theatre, Cambridge.

Oct. 8: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., symposium at Harvard University School of Education, Gutman Library, Cambridge.
