Kings, 50 Dalton Street, Boston.

The holiday season is fast approaching, and with that comes the urge to give back to the community. Here's one option: Kings, a bowling alley and bar in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston, is offering a fun incentive to help a family in need for Thanksgiving.

Get a group together and suit up in your best bowling shoes (or socks if you don't actually own the shoes ... why not?). For every three strikes in a row (or as some say, a "turkey"), Kings will donate a turkey fit for the Thanksgiving table to the Greater Boston Food Bank or the Dedham Food Pantry for families in need.

This event will continue until Wednesday, Nov. 20 -- a day before Thankgiving.

Are you looking for other opportunities to give back this holiday season? Here are some other options:

Thanksgiving Bootcamp (Thursday, Nov. 22): Get some exercise before a heavy holiday meal. Head to the Boston Common on Thanksgiving day for a work out. All proceeds benefit the St. Francis House.

Winter Walk (Sunday, Dec. 2): If you're trying to find ways to avoid putting on weight during the holidays, take part in the Winter Walk, where a walk around Boston will go toward helping the homeless who are without shelter this winter.

Handmade for the Homeless (Sunday, Dec. 2): Put your knitting skills to good use and crochet or knit items for those in need. Materials and any help needed are available.
