Need some comfort after a long work week? You're in luck--Southern food, local cheeses, and Italian wine will do the trick. Boston-based chefs and companies are opening three restaurants this weekend. The locations of these new spots are in two of the hottest restaurant destinations: Inman Square in Cambridge and the South End in Boston.
Puritan & Company: Expect an oyster bar, house made charcuterie, and a traditional New England feel with modern flare at this new Cambridge eatery. The restaurant focuses on everything local: Some ingredients come from the chef's own family farm in Groton, and the menu includes regional beer and locally grown vegetables. The restaurant will also offer a range of small snacks, local cheeses, dinner plates, and an extensive rotating wine list.
Fun fact: The name of the restaurant derives from the Puritan Cake Company, which once occupied the location. The chef's own background plays a role: He is a thirteenth generation descendent of the Mayflower.
Address: 1166 Cambridge Street, Cambridge
Estelle's A fan of Rattlesnake's nachos, East Coast Grill's corn bread, or the Tip Tap Room's steak tips? The forces behind these restaurants are opening this new South End spot. The restaurant's scheduled opening date is Saturday, Dec. 1 and will boast a large variety of Southern cuisine.
What we're excited for: sausage and smoked gumbo; red velvet moon pie.
Address: 782 Tremont Street, Boston
Cinquencento: This restaurant has had buzz about it since the former Rocca location was bought. The new owners are the folks behind Aquitaine, Gaslight, Union Bar and Grill, and Metropolis Cafe-- some of the most popular names in South End dining. The restaurant officially opened Nov. 30.
Tip: Having a holiday party? The space for this restaurant is upscale yet comfortable and has private rooms, making it a great candidate for a holiday event.
Address: 500 Harrison Ave, Boston
