Love isn't always easy, but it can be rewarding. The same can be said of the three pieces on Max Levinson's recital program in the Piano Masters Series.

The award-winning pianist and Boston Conservatory faculty member will play Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet," Schumann's Fantasie in C Major, and Liszt's transcription of Wagner's "Liebestod." The Prokofiev was originally written as a ballet about Shakespeare's famous star-crossed lovers. The Schumann includes a movement inspired by the composer's separation from his lover (listen closely and you'll hear a quote from Beethoven's "To the Distant Beloved"). The Liszt is a transcription of the final aria from "Tristan Und Isolde," another tale of tragic love.

Feb. 11, 8 p.m. $15, $10 seniors, students free. Seully Hall, 8 The Fenway, Boston. 617-912-9222, www.bostonconservatory.edu
