Oscars viewing parties in Boston

The biggest night in Hollywood is almost here. Yes, it's Oscars time! Celebrities will be strutting the red carpet and the nominees will await the sound of their names at the 86th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2. Cheer on your favorite movie stars, rate your favorite gowns, and take in all the glitz and glam at one of these local Boston spots.

Don your finest Hollywood attire and head to Back Bay Harry’s Oscars Celebration, which will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston. The evening will feature signature cocktails like “Captain Phillips Pineapple,” “American Hustle,” and “Wolf of Wall Street,” along with appetizers, a red-carpet photo op, voting ballots, prizes, and more. Tickets cost $60 and include signature Oscars-themed cocktails, passed appetizers, and the red-carpet photo op. Visit www.backbayharrys.com to purchase your ticket.

Visit Jamaica Plain’s Canary Square for a night of glamour and fun. Upon arrival, attendees will enjoy champagne as they stroll the red carpet. Then, mix and mingle with fellow guests as you fill out your Oscars ballots and munch on complimentary oysters, beef tartare, chick pea frites, and foie gras, and sip Canary’s specialty “Oscars” cocktail. At the end of the night, Oscars winners will be announced (including “best dressed”). No RSVP or entry fee needed.

Head to Trident Booksellers and Café to view the show on Sunday night. The venue will create a special menu inspired by this year’s Best Picture nominees, including "Captain Phillips'" Coconut Shrimp and "American Hustle" Disco Fries (a New Jersey version of poutine). There will also be Academy Awards-themed games and drink specials. You can cast your ballot for your favorite Oscars stars and films, and have the chance to win a pair of tickets to the Somerville Theatre.

In the mood to watch the show, but don’t want to get dressed up? Kings is hosting an Oscars Viewing Pajama Party, where you’re invited to wear your comfy attire while watching the awards show in the Kings Lounge. Your evening will feature movie-themed cocktails, complimentary snacks, viewing of the awards on all of the HDTVs, movie trivia and special giveaways, and Oscars ballots for the chance to win a one-year subscription to Netflix. Join the Ellie Fund for an evening of movies, food, and fashion at the 18th annual Red Carpet Gala at the Taj Boston. The event will be hosted by WCVB-TV Channel 5’s Kelley Tuthill, Susan Wornick, and J.C. Monahan, and will include a live viewing of the Oscars, celebrity chefs, live and silent auctions, and more. Individual tickets cost $300. You can also reserve a table for 8 for $2,400.
