Revels celebrates the seasons with annual programs like the Christmas Revels, RiverSing, and Spring Sing. Their newest program, Revels FRINGE, ventures from the traditional and presents artists widening the boundaries of folk music.

Bagpiper Carlos Núnez

The series opens with Galician bagpiper Carlos Núnez, currently touring North America to promote his new CD, "Inter-Celtic." Núnez performed at the 2013 Summer Arts Weekend in Boston, and will appear at Brian O'Donovan's upcoming St. Patrick's Day Celtic Sojourn, but his show for Revels FRINGE is a unique collaboration with three artists who've graced Revels stages in the past - Celtic harpist Maeve Gilchrist, folk fiddler Hanneke Cassel, and jazz saxophonist Stan Strickland.

March 7, 7:30 p.m. $15-$35. Center for Arts at the Armory, 191 Highland Ave., Somerville. 617-972-8300, www.revels.org
