What do you think of the new tunnel?

The new northbound Central Artery tunnel, which opened to traffic on Saturday night, is getting its first big test today as it handles the full onslaught of the weekday morning commute. Tell us about your experience driving through the tunnel. Could you find your way? How was traffic moving? Do you think the new highway will cut down on traffic jams downtown?   Complete Big Dig coverage

A waste of money that could have been used for much more needed purposes. A shame that no one did any jail time for all of the stealing. Only in Massachusetts could such corruption happen.

Waste of $$$$. The just like the old expressway, the new expressway is obsolete the day it opens. A smarter thing to do would have been to utilize both above ground and below ground access allowing for more lanes in an out of the city.

Awful! This was the worst commute I've experienced in a long time. Plus, when you exit at Exit 20, you have a long haul in lots of traffic before you even get to the city. It took me 25 minutes longer than my average usual. What a disappointment!

AWESOME the bridge rises higher than I thought. Lenny would be proud. The only bad part and it should be no surprise those idiots who must take a near right turn from the left lane to the exit. But this really something and forget the bunker hill bridge call it the Zakim and leave it at that.

its cool but people dont know where theyre going so its slow now, but anything is better that the old artery

Like the Ted williams Tunnel and the approach to Logan from the Pike, I think the new central artery tunnel is just fantastic. It is one big improvement on the raised road way and when completly finished and opened both ways it will bring Boston into the modern era for roads and access. While I think it cost far too much and certainly was out of control from a cost/project basis. I like it and glad it is nearing completion !!

Went through it on Sunday and thought it was a little confusing for the first time. Was surprised by the number of lanes (only 3 in most areas) and feel that it will not alleviate traffic issuses coming from the south. Very little bang for a lotta bucks!

Two words: WICKED PISSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I drove southbound earlier in the afternoon, and traffic was backed up all the way to Columbia Road in Dorchester. Fortunately, when I went northbound a few hours later, the traffic started to accumulate after exit 20. I was disappointed that even on a Sunday afternoon traffic wasn't very fast at all. I also was surprised by the lack of a breakdown lane at the entrance to the tunnel (with all of the amber lights). Hopefully, traffic will flow more smoothly as everyone gets used to it.

Its like a new pair of underwear.....At first its constricting, but then after a while, it becomes a part of you.
