How to get there

Turning Stone Resort and Casino is just west of Utica, N.Y. Take the Massachusetts Turnpike to the New York State Thruway to exit 33. Turn left, and the resort is on your left at the first traffic light.

A separate, upscale, full-service hotel next to the casino and that was scheduled to open Friday. Rooms $295-$375; rooms with fireplaces and balconies, $425.

The Inn at Turning Stone

This is the area's low-price alternative, about a mile from the casino, but includes 24-hour shuttle service on demand, as well as a free continental breakfast 6-10 a.m., plus free valet parking and a health spa. Rooms $75-$120.
