How to get there

All international flights land in Saint-Pierre and generally require two stops. The lowest round-trip air fare from Boston to Saint-Pierre at press time was $629 on Air Canada.

Seasonal ferry from Fortune, Newfoundland, to Saint-Pierre departs daily; $60 round trip. Ferry between Saint-Pierre and Miquelon runs Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays; $30 round trip. Purchase tickets at the Saint-Pierre Tourist Office (800-565-5118, 011-508-41-23-84, and www.st-pierre-et-miquelon.com). The local currency is the euro.

     Miquelon

It's about the only game in town. Family fare starts at $7.

Getting around

On Miquelon, you'll have to use you feet or your thumb. On Saint-Pierre, consider renting a scooter for $40 daily at Locamat Testeur Sarl, 10 rue Richerie (011-508-41-30-38); helmet is included.
