How to get there

Adamstown is on Route 272 southwest of Reading, Pa., about 360 miles from Boston or a 6 1/2-hour drive. Take Interstate 95 south to New York and Interstate 287 west in New Jersey to a merge with Interstate 78 west into Pennsylvania. Pick up Route 222 south to Route 272 west.

What to do

To hit the greatest number of shops, plan to visit on a weekend, though some shops are open during the week. For information, see www.antiquescapital.com.
