If it's rock 'n' roll photography you like, then the Morrison Hotel Gallery in La Jolla, Calif., is the place to go. With a permanent collection of more than 150 rock photos from world-renowned photographer Henry Diltz and others, the gallery on Prospect Street will captivate you as you browse two floors of rock history with photos of musicians including Jackson Browne, Ray Charles, Keith Richards, and The Doors. Diltz's work has graced the covers of magazines and albums for over 40 years. A founding member of the Modern Folk Quartet, Diltz shows in his art the true muscle and scars of a rock 'n' roll lifestyle. His pictures are stark, yet personal. His subjects, most of whom are titans of rock, look exhausted, almost hypnotic. There's Tom Waits melting into a folding chair beside his piano, Neil Young offering his dog a hit of smoke, and Bob Dylan alongside George Harrison in Bangladesh. Other photographers in the collection are Jim Marshall, Bob Gruen, and there are even some portraits by John Lennon.

The Morrison Hotel Gallery, 1230 Prospect St., La Jolla, Calif. 858-551-0835, 800-778-9988. www.morrisonhotelgallery.com. Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 9.
