Explore Italy’s markets and villages Follow in George Clooney’s footsteps when you explore Italy’s Apennines with Absolutely Abruzzo Tours. You’ll journey through ancient villages and mountainous countryside in Gran Sasso National Park, which the actor visited while shooting “The American,’’ then stay at the medieval convent he booked out, Santa Lucia in Sulmona. On this eight-day, seven-night, guided trip, visit winemakers and cheese-makers, explore colorful markets, take a hands-on cooking class, and attend a private concert with tenor Michael Howard. Tours run May 29-June 5 and July 31-Aug. 7, and cost $4,600 per person, double occupancy. That includes all land travel and transfers, but no airfare. 011-61-7-3102-4384, www.absolutelyabruzzo.com

Celebrate Hawaii’s ‘other’ season This month, Hawaii welcomes its fifth season of the year — whale-watch season — as up to 10,000 humpbacks migrate to the islands to breed, feed, and bask in the warm waters. In celebration, Atlantis Navatek Cruises has launched a Whale Watch Breakfast Cruise, which follows East Oahu’s scenic coastline past Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head crater toward Koko Head. Breakfast cruises run daily Jan. 14 to March 31, departing from Pier 6 at Aloha Tower Marketplace in Honolulu Harbor at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 10:30 a.m. Rates are $49 for adults and $25 for children ages 2-12, and include a continental breakfast buffet. A lunch cruise is also available. 808-973-1311, www.atlantissubmarines.com
