A Hands On Feast of Early Tradition
Sometimes I feel like there's slim pickings for unique dining experiences with the whole family. But I am going to make the assumption that the Salem Cross Inn has changed all that.
Several dates in April, including the 11 and 13 have been reserved for their Fireplace Feast nights. The Innkeepers here take pride in offering authentic 1700's style feasts, prepared on the open hearth of their great fieldstone fireplace. Your prime rib dinner cooks before your very eyes, and even by your very own hands should you desire to offer them, on what they claim to be America's only operating Roasting Jack. Bring a group, bring your family, and most of all, bring your kids, and experience the good ole days where cooking and eating were a special time shared by all. A horse drawn wagon ride through the Inn's fields follows the dinner, as well as warm cider or mulled wine waiting for you to cap the night off.
Tickets are $52 per person and must be purchased in advance, so take a peek at April and squeeze this one in! Call 508-867-2345 for more information or visit the Salem Cross Inn online.

Wow, a roasting jack! Worth a visit just to see that in operation. The only other one I know is at the 18th c. Lee family home, Stratford Hall in Virginia, but I don't think they use it anymore:
