10 scariest rides on the planet

Excuse me while I try to overcome an onslaught of peristaltic contractions. I'm not a ride guy. To me, they are like mechanically induced food poisoning: headache, nausea, oy.
But I know some of you are. So our pals at Travel + Leisure (so what's up with the plus sign?) have compiled a list of the World's Top Ten. Now why do you care? Well because our own Six Flags New England in the lovely bedroom community of Agawam made the list with its Superman Ride of Steel. (The good folks at Boston.com have also compiled a list of the top ten in North America, including footage of what it's like on the Superman ride.)
If you want the details, read on. I think I need to lie down. Got any saltines?
Here's the list:
Superman Ride of Steel, Six Flags New England, Agawam: There are three Ride of Steel coasters in the U.S. of A but this is the one that brings home the prizes. With speeds of more than 77 mph, a 221-foot drop into a tunnel, two bunny hills, three camel backs, and 10 seconds of weightlessness.
X2, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, Ca.: Features 360-degree rotating seats and head first, face down drops.
Fahrenheit, Hersheypark, Hershey, Pa.: An inverted vertical loop “lift” coaster swoops riders up 121 feet before plunging them right back down in a gut-wrenching, 97-degree negative drop — the steepest in the U.S. of A.
Insanity, Stratosphere Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas: At the top of a space-needle-like hotel, an electric-green-colored centrifuge called Insanity, extends 64 feet over the north edge. Spinning over 40 mph, riders are angled down by 70 degrees so all they see is the street, 900 feet below.
Colossus, Thorpe Park, Chertsey, Surrey, U.K.: A roller coaster offering a record 10 inversions, flipping riders over and over and over again in maneuvers called the double corkscrew, the cobra roll, and the quadruple heart-line roll.
Kingda Ka. Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, N.J.: This is the big daddy of coasters. At its peak, riders soar a record 456 feet, or 45 stories, above ground. Catapulting up with the help of a hydraulic launch at a record-setting 128 mph, Kingda Ka reaches its top height in just 3.5 seconds. And on the way down? A 270-foot spiral.
Eejanaika, Fuji-Q Highland, Fujiyoshida, Japan: Only the second “4-D” coaster in the world (X2 is the other), this has the same 360-degree turns and head-over-heels spinning on the winglike cars as X2, but the track is longer and the ride, at 250 feet, a good bit taller.
Tower of Terror, Dreamworld, Gold Coast, Australia: The fastest, tallest thrill ride in the Southern Hemisphere (and at 100 mph, the fourth fastest in the world). After climbing at a rate of 4 G’s to 38 stories, or 377 feet above ground, this coaster takes off on a 6.5 second, 100 mph, zero-gravity drop.
Expedition GeForce, Holiday Park, Haßloch, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany: GeForce, one of the largest coasters in Europe, reaches 4.5 G, a height of 203 feet, and speeds exceeding 74 mph.
Maverick, Cedar Point Amusement Park, Sandusky, Ohio: No list is complete without mentioning at least one of the 17 roller-coaster rides at the self-proclaimed home of the roller coaster, Cedar Point. Maverick hits 70 mph and features eight airtime-filled hills and countless twists and turns during a longish 2.5-minute trip.

Haßloch how is the word prenounced? Is the speling in Russhin, with a funny letter? Please keep this page all-American, be pround of the USA!!!!
Awesome, Yet another example of why most people can't make it past round 3 of "Are you smarter than a 3rd Grader" The word is German, and sadly, I don't know how to be pround of anything...do you mean proud or around? Kids... say in school...
russian is spelt like this, for future reference. :)
GO RIDES :-D
Who cares about the, stupid spelling of countries, and their language. AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT I AM WRITTING YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ IT!
any ways, cool site, it would scare me.
but it would scare me cousin even more!!!
AND I AM NOT JOKING!
YO MY UNCLE SAID THATS A PUNK ASS RIDE
It looks really scary and me and my dad would scream our heads of I also think its really good because I like high rides that go down really fast and then you go whizzing up but just one more thing I know its a really fast and that but I think you guys should paint it because it don't look very scary.
it's german, not russian.
