Little Rhody Gets Green

Posted by Kimberly Sherman June 6, 2008 09:50 AM

ri1.png It's almost getting to the point of cringing when the color ''green'' is mentioned. What used to make us think of the lovable Kermit, now pushes our thoughts to recycling, bio-deisel and wind farms. But believe it or not, this whole 'green thing' is not a new idea, and while you may associate it with Vermont or trendy urban folk, little Rhody reminds us that this year marks its seventh, not first, 7th Annual Sustainable Living Festival and Clean Energy Expo in Conventry, R.I. June 7 and 8.

Two days, rain or shine, this community comes together with live music, workshops, vendors and activities for all those interested in providing a better future for all. Bring the kids and make a pebble mosaic stepping stone, attend the discussion on Bicycle Commuting 101 or attend one of many discussions on making your home more energy efficient. Beyond the usual are Tai Chi classes, and instructions on making your own wind farm! Activities are hosted in a variety of places, so check online to be sure where you're going. Call 401-228-7930 for more information.
