6 Weeks of horse heaven
I believe I have admitted before to you that I know nothing about anything equine, but that I can surely appreciate the admiration of those creatures demanding such respect and care. Wednesday July 9th kicks off 6 full weeks of everything equestrian in East Dorset, Vt., as Vermont's Summer Festival Horse Shows takes off. For those of you understanding horse-talk, know that this jumping competition is New England's largest "AA" rated hunter/jumper horse show. There is over $750,000 in prize money, making it the richest sporting event in Vermont.
Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children, Wednesdays through Saturdays. A slight increase to $7 for adults and $5 for children, for Grand Prix Sundays. All of the gate receipts are donated to the Friends Foundation for MEMS, benefiting programs in the local Elementary & Middle Schools. Call 802-362-7548 for more information.
