Picklin' and Fiddlin'
Some of the smallest venues make for the most memorable of times. Hurlburt Park in Roxbury, Conn., hosts the 34th Annual Picklin' and Fiddlin' Contest on Saturday July 12. Registration for contest is at 4 p.m. with categories including old time fiddle, old time banjo, mandolin, Finger pick guitar, bluegrass banjo and more. There are no electric instruments except bass, and there are both youth and senior awards. Bands play between categories and winners play off to end a night of great bluegrass music.
Admission is $10, children under 10 are free and parking is free. B.Y.O.C.O.B. Bring your own chair or blanket, keep your dogs at home, and go enjoy some good ole country fun. For more information call 860-354-5921.
