A world of street performance comes to Burlington
For all those street performers given a hard time at Faneuil Hall, drop everything and get to Burlington, Vt. where the craft is so appreciated they even dedicate an entire weekend to street performers of all kinds, from all over the world. The Festival of Fools [now take no offense!] is this weekend Aug. 8-10 in the heart of downtown Burlington, Vt.
For three days, Church Street Marketplace and City Hall Park are transformed into several stages for some of the craziest, and talented performers in the world. The Yo-Yo People from Mass., Mr. Spin from Australia, Galumpha [shown at left] from New York, and many more vie for the crown of weird-yet-expert-in-all-things-laughable. Visitors of all ages should plan on a weekend of continuous entertainment and fun. Special events include, Late Night Foolery just for adults in Contois Auditorium on Friday, workshops featuring juggling and funny pet tricks, and the festival wraps up on Sunday with The Last Laugh at City Hall Park, a mega-show featuring all performers. Festival is free, with special events ranging from $6-$10. Take a peek at Amherst, Mass.'s own Yo-Yo People below.
