Folk, family and festivities
I find that folk festivals can be misleading due to the broad range of genre. And the Champlain Valley Folk Fest this weekend in Ferrisburg is one example of why folk fests confuse. Instead of names like, or bands that play like, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Ani DiFranco or Arlo Guthrie on its bill, this Fest is honoring its area centuries-old and recent traditions of Quebecois, Native American and European roots, as well as some other world music.
In its 25th year, the Champlain Valley Folk fest is known for bringing in a weekend full of musicians, dancers and crafters to one place for a weekend full of family-oriented fun. New this year is late night Brazilian dancing, and Honky Tonk [see the confusion?]. As always, camping is available on-site at Kingsland Bay State Park.
Various ticket pricing structures are available according to number of days, camping and senior discounts. Visit online for specifics.
