Flora, Stanzas and Harmonies

Now that our evenings have turned a tad chilled, with light bending a bit to autumn gold, a Sunken Garden Poetry and Music Festival is the perfect event for such atmosphere. The Hill-Stead Museum is at it again, bringing much loved summer festivals to some of those 30,000+ yearly visitors who find this National Historic landmark in Farmington, Conn.

This Wednesday, Aug. 6, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Paul Muldoon and musical guest, Rackett, will perform within Hill-Stead's notable gardens. Muldoon is the author of 10 poetry collections and was recently called to be the poetry editor of the New Yorker magazine. Rackett, founded in 2004 with Nigel Smith, is known for its Dylan-esque lyrics and electric guitar riffs. Both poet and band will stick around after the show for performance discussions. Gates open at 5:30, boxed suppers will be available for purchase, or you can pack your own meals. Bring comfy chairs or blanket. Parking is $10 which is nothing to complain about, since the performance and atmosphere are free!
