Two summer lovahs unite
No doubt the most longed for summer vegetable is the fresh garden tomato picked right from the vine, that can travel direct to table without any fuss. There is no better taste. It only gets better when you combine the other delicacies from your garden beds. One of the best pairings for Mr. Tomato, is Ms. Corn. Sweet, sunny yellow dancing on a plate with Mr. Red. Yum. Concord, Mass.'s Verrill Farm knows this duo wins over anyone, and thus, the Corn and Tomato Festival this weekend Aug, 16-17 will knock your taste buds silly.
Samplings of the Farm's heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, alone and along with their sweet corn, will churn out from the doors of the farm stand kitchen. Ideas for new dishes, preparations and preserving will be offered. No festival is complete without live music, and Verrill Farm will welcome Monadnock Bluegrass, and offer Giddy up Ponies, Lil Folk Farm, and hayrides. A farm to table to farm experience for $8 per person and $4 for kids under 12.
