Apples and craft in Homer's place

Posted by Kimberly Sherman October 9, 2008 08:00 AM

The announcement and appeal of the Simpson's Movie last year, and which state's Springfield would host the first viewing, was as shocking to me as a lipstick-wearing pit bull I saw once. There were many Homer fans who thought that this Hollywood event not taking top spot on "Time's" most memorable events of '07, was blasphemy. Now while I can say my husband didn't care about this news, he would have to admit that his chest puffed up when his hometown of Springfield, Vt. [kindly referred to as Springding] won the first viewing rights. Ah, life is sweet.

For a second there, I nearly lost what I was saying...oh right, so this weekend, that same Springfield celebrates another selection as its own orchard, Wellwood Orchards, was chosen again to be Vermont's official Apple Orchard for this year's festivities. Wellwood Orchards offers their crisp bushels of apples, pumpkins, cider and other harvest produce, while surrounded with the excitement of The 26th Annual Vermont Apple & Craft Show at the Riverside Middle School. Over 50 crafters, tons of live entertainment, agriculture and activities for the whole family will pulse through the town's veins this weekend, October 11 and 12. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and students, under 5 are free.
