US Airways is reducing the frequency of its daily flights between Boston and both Buffalo and Pittsburgh in January as part of ongoing seat capacity cuts prodded by higher fuel costs, the carrier said today. The seven daily flights to Buffalo will be whittled down to four, while the six daily ones to Pittsburgh will slip to five. The reductions are part of the 8 to 10 percent year-over-year domestic capacity cuts that US Airways announced in July it would roll out throughout 2009. This week the carrier's parent company, US Airways, announced a third-quarter loss of $865 million largely due to fuel bills, compared to $177 million profit the same quarter last year.
