ice24.jpgThe little unknown town of Brookfield, Vt., sits snugly off of Route 89 between the more traveled towns of White River Junction and Montpelier, Vt. It's a convenient stop on your way to Stowe, Mad River or Sugarbush for some skiing, and this weekend in particular, a stop in Brookfield is a lesson in history.
On Saturday, Jan. 31, the annual Brookfield Ice Harvest takes place with experts to tell the tale of ice harvesting history, demonstrations and hands-on competitions for young and old. It's a great free family experience that includes food, dog sledding, ice sculpting and other outdoor winter escapades. For details, you'll have to pick up that antiquated thing hanging on your wall [1-802-276-3959] as there is no website. Small time, small town fun is not lost in Brookfield.
