A film fest for the outdoorsy type
This is the first time I have heard of a film fest that celebrates the genre of all-things-outdoors. On Saturday Feb. 28, The smith School in Glastonbury, Conn., holds the Banff Mountain Film Festival sponsored by North Cove Outfitters.
International and local documentary filmmakers, mountaineers, and environmentalists submit their latest films to be judged by experts in the film and outdoor industries. The result is a 2˝-hour compilation which showcases thrilling outdoor adventures like rock and alpine climbing, whitewater kayaking, skydiving, snowboarding, environmental issues, mountaineering and more.
Proceeds benefit the Connecticut Audubon. Starts at 7 p.m with many door prizes to be won. Admission is $15. For more information check online or call 860-388-6585.
