One more thing to do with all this winter weather

kites.jpg No plans this weekend? I recommend packing up and heading north to Burlington, Vt. this weekend for the Kitestorm Snowkiting Festival on Lake Champlain. Don't feel badly, a lot of people don't know what the relatively new sport of snowkiting is...yet. But I swear that this Burlington fest is spreading word quickly.

The premise is simple: you strap into a big, maneuverable kite and harness the power of the wind to cruise across the snow and ice on skis or a snowboard. The festival takes place at Sandbar State Park in Milton along the snow-covered ice of Lake Champlain. Adirondacks to the west, Green Mountains to the east and a lot of lake in between -- lovely setting for a weekend of outdoor activity. Free kite demos, and snowkite clinics offer a rare opportunity for a new experience. Speed and photo contests too, a gear shop if you take to the sport and plenty of food and drink vendors to stay full-bellied. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 21-22. Look online for the details including lodging.
