Casting for Recovery

If you're a breast cancer survivor, Casting for Recovery is hoping to hook you on fly fishing: "Our weekend retreats incorporate counseling, educational services and the sport of fly-fishing to promote mental and physical healing...The program allows women to get away from their cancer, while providing support from the medical/psychosocial professionals present at every retreat."

Here's the lure: a free 2.5-day program in your state for those who qualify. Upcoming New England programs and application deadlines are:

• Maine, July 24 - 26: Libby Camps, Ashland, Maine; Apply by 5/15/09

• Massachusetts, July 31 - Aug. 2: Sacred Hearts Retreat Center, Wareham, Mass.; Apply by 5/22/09

• New Hampshire, September 18 - 20: Lake Mansfield Trout Club, Stowe, Vt.; Apply by 7/10/09

• Vermont, September 18 - 20: Lake Mansfield Trout Club, Stowe, Vt.; Apply by 7/10/09

  1. I guess colon cancer and lung cancer survivors don't deserve free fishing trips.
