Provincetown ramps up for 2009 film fest

Posted by Kimberly Sherman June 12, 2009 08:57 AM

Now that the warm weather's arrived full throttle, there are plenty of sun-drenched reasons to visit Provincetown. The 11th Annual Provincetown International Film Festival is yet another. The outermost hook of the Cape has long been a draw to the famous, alternative, and artsy, so it's no surprise how legendary the festival has become over the years. This summer’s opening night features a screening of Woody Allen’s “"Whatever Works,''” starring Larry Charles, Evan Rachel Wood, and Ed Begley Jr. With Allen's film starting off the festivities, I wouldn't be too surprised to see his horn-rimmed spectacles around town.

The festival runs from June 19-21, and is packed with viewings, discussions and pre- and post- everything parties. Little chance of lodging in town, but you could still try. Schedules, ticket pricing and special event details can be found online.
