More air sales for fall
These, from Southwest and AirTran, are more typical seasonal deals (read more restrictions) than last week's 48-hour brawl kicked off by Southwest, but they still reflect industry concerns over gently rising oil prices and badly slumping demand, particularly as we head out of the summer travel season.
Southwest, which will begin offering service out of Logan in the middle of next month, is offering one-way, $49-$99 fares for select cities for travel between Aug. 18 and Nov. 18. And you must book before July 31. Here is the rest of the fine print.
AirTran is offering one-way, $39-$149 fares out of Boston for travel through Dec. 16, with Thanksgiving blacked out, and you must book by July 28. The entire list of restrictions can be found here.
For both airlines, best fares are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
