FareCompare.com says United Airlines pushed up domestic round-trip fares by as much as $10, according to the Associated Press. The website, which tracks airline fares, says most of United's competitors matched the increases that United filed on Wednesday, with the exceptions being discounters like Southwest, JetBlue, and AirTran. Rick Seaney of FareCompare told the AP that the carriers did not hike fares on routes in which they were competing with lower-fare airlines. He also noted that there were four successful airfare hikes last year.
