Fairmont Hotels caters to special dietary needs

Sometimes it’s hard to eat healthy when you’re on vacation, especially if you specific health issues. The Fairmont Hotel and Resorts chain have launched a new program, Lifestyle Cuisine Plus, a new menu available upon request designed for guests with specific diet-dependent conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, and gluten intolerance, as well as those having dietary preferences such as macrobiotic, raw and vegan.

Fairmont chefs prepared the new food line using Nutritionist Pro by Axxya Systems, a recipe-analysis software that helps customize entrees and menus to fit guests’ requests, Fairmont officials said. A typical Fairmont Lifestyle Cuisine Plus menus include a selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts to address diabetes, heart issues, vegan, raw, macrobiotic and gluten-free diets. Guests with specific food allergies and sensitivities can talk directly to the chef to plan their food options during their stay.

The program is an extension of Fairmont Lifestyle Cuisine, targeted to the most common dietary requests guest have, such as low-fat, vegetarian and low-carb concerns. And you don’t have to be a Fairmont guest to take advantage of the program. A website gets you Fairmont recipes that include those from the Lifestyle Cuisine and Lifestyle Cuisine Plus menus so you can enjoy health-conscious Fairmont cooking at home – minus the view you get at the hotels.
