Megabus to offer Vt., Conn. service, free seats
As colleges prepare to open their doors for a new year next month, Megabus says it will open new routes from Boston to Burlington, Vt., and New Haven and Hartford, Conn., starting Aug. 17.
The bus company, which offers one-way fares starting at $1, says it will run two daily departures to Burlington and four to New Haven and Hartford from South Station.
To mark the expansion Megabus is offering 1,000 free seats on the Boston-Burlington route for travel Aug. 17 through Nov. 15 and 1,000 freebies on the New Haven-Hartford route for travel Aug. 17 through Sept. 17. The free seats will be given out subject to availability on select dates, and customers will need to use the promo code BURL1K for the Vermont trip and HART1K for the Connecticut route when booking tickets on www.megabus.com.
DATTCO Coach & Tour Group will operate the new routes but customers will not see any difference as the buses will be outfitted with the blue and yellow Megabus design and will offer the same free WiFi and electrical outlets.
The addition of the three cities brings the total number of Megabus destinations from Boston to nine. The company already goes to New York, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Phildelphia, Portland, Me., and Secaucus, N.J.
