There is a trio of new things out there for travelers to help you pack, not pack too heavy and ensure safe water wherever you take it all.

The Saving Grace App has been released by Grace Hotels, a free app that is a packing checklist and reminder tool. It comes with customized lists for different trip types and activities that can be individually personalized, and is available for both iPhone and iPad users from the Apple App Store.

The Digital Luggage Scale ($29) is a compact scale that helps you keep track of how much your stuff weighs, the idea being you'll pack lightly and avoid heavy-bag fees. It is ergonomically designed with a two-handed grip, and measures up to 100 pounds.

And for water worriers, there is the UV Water Purifier-SteriPen Traveler ($49.95), a miniature water purification system that uses ultra-violet light to purify water, and is said to eliminate bacteria and viruses without the hassle of boiling. It is designed to fit into commercial water bottles, and is capable of purifying 200 half-liter servings.
