One-way prices from Boston start at $48. You have to purchase before Oct. 11 for travel from Dec. 13-Jan. 5 and the blackout dates are Dec. 23, 26, 30, and Jan. 2. A quick look suggests that the lowest fares are on the most competitive routes, but still these are pretty good fares for the holiday season. Here's all the fine print. Early forecasts have suggested that demand for air travel for the 2011 holiday season may be a little bit softer than last year so it looks like Southwest may be trying to get out in front -- which also suggests that it might be worthwhile to check around as the airline industry is such a competitive one.
