The Massachusetts Port Authority today approved funding for the first phase of a construction project to renovate three terminals at Logan International Airport.

The $20 million budget will be used for demolition, pre-construction services, and design work to relocate United Airlines to Terminal B, giving JetBlue Airways room to grow in Terminal C, and create connections beyond the security checkpoints between the two sides of Terminal B and between Terminal C and Terminal E.

This phase of the project is estimated to be finished within the next two years. Massport said it will request additional funding later this year.
