Beer and beach are things that seem to go well together, and the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Fla., a 2,400-acre resort on the state's northwest Emerald Coast, is hosting the Fifth Annual Baytowne Beer Festival in the Village of Baytowne Wharf, Oct. 19 and 20. The event, which has been dubbed the best beer festival in that neck of the Florida woods, features more than 100 domestic and international beers and 40 craft brewers. And new this year, for lovers of beer history, is a seminar, "Three Decades of Craft Beer: A Taste of History and Today," presented by John Holl, who is an author, journalist and, by dint of his visiting more than 900 breweries around the world and being news editor and columnist of The Ale Street News, a beer expert.

Check out the festival at www.baytownebeerfestival.com, and for info and packages at the Sandestin, visit www.sandestin.com
