Cruising the south for holiday season

Blount Small Ship Adventures, based in Warren, R.I., is offering its “Southern Antebellum: Charleston, S.C. to Jacksonville Cruise, an eight-day, seven-night itinerary that leaves Charleston Dec. 4, navigates the Eastern Seaboard through the small rivers of the southern coast, and arrives in Jacksonville. Guests booking by Sept. 30 save $400 per person and get free early onboard arrival. Rates start at $1,999, which includes the discount if booked by Sept. 30.

Aboard the ship, the Grande Mariner, a variety of onboard activities are scheduled, including carolers, holiday movies and tree decorating. The cruise also offers optional excursions such as visiting the Charleston Festival of Lights, viewing the holiday light displays of historic homes in Beaufort, S.C. and Savannah, Georgia, and touring the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.

In addition to saving $400 per person, travelers booking by Sept. 30 get a free night onboard the ship before leaving Charleston, which also includes one dinner and breakfast per person, a $300 value per couple. All cruises include three daily meals, as well as refreshments and snacks 24 hours a day, with free beer and wine with lunch and dinner. Blount cruises also have a bring-your-own-bottle policy, providing mixers and set-ups for cocktails.
