Free fun awaits those taking part in Providence’s second annual Pop-Up Play Day June 21 at Roger Williams Park, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., presented by the Partnership for Providence Parks, the Providence Children’s Museum, the city, the East Side/Mount Hope YMCA and others.
The event is a free public celebration of open-ended play that kicks off summer and Playful Providence 2014, a creative citywide celebration of play. Attendees at Roger Williams Park can build forts, design structures, invent imaginative playthings and more, using a variety of parts, such as sticks and branches, cardboard boxes, fabric, and other material. The event also features stations for bubble blowing and instrument making, plus music by Joe’s Backyard Band and Noodle and Moose.
Providence is in its third year, with events held all summer for kids and
families. It draws attention to the role parks play in growing up.
