Getting to and from Logan Airport just got a whole lot easier, with the announcement of two new express shuttles serving Back Bay and suburban areas.

According to a statement issued by Massport, the Back Bay Logan Express, which launched April 28, will stop at each airport terminal on the departure level and will also pick up passengers on the arrivals level. The aim is to provide passengers with an alternative to the Green Line. Massport considers the service a two-year test while the Government Center station is closed and the direct connection from the Green Line to the Blue Line is unavailable.

Massport CEO Thomas P. Glynn said he believes the Back Bay is where the demand for direct airport service is heading, according to the Massport news release. The shuttle will pick up an estimated 1,400 passengers a day from the Hynes Convention Center, nearby hotels, and throughout the residential Back Bay communities.

Service will run seven days a week from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. from the Back Bay and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Logan Airport. Local commuters get an added benefit: the fare is free with a valid MBTA pass. Otherwise, fare is $5 and can be paid with a credit or debit card.

Those not living in the Back Bay also have a new and convenient option. Massport brought the national Super Shuttle service to the Greater Boston area earlier this year. The door-to-door service has over 20 blue and yellow vans throughout the city. Rates vary depending on current location and destination.

In 2006, Massport introduced the free Silver Line service from South Station to Logan Airport. That service will continue to be available to passengers.
