To and from Logan by train, taxi, or limo
Train
Arriving in or leaving from Boston via train, you're very likely to come into South Station. All Amtrak trains and half of MBTA commuter trains come into Boston at South Station. Transportation between Logan and South Station is easy enough via the T, taxi, water shuttle, etc.

Taxi
Passengers can catch a taxi from Logan 24 hours a day to anywhere in the city, or even across New England. Drivers charge the metered rate for destiantions within a 12-mile radius, which should cover all of Boston and most of the immediate suburbs as well. If you need to go farther than 12 miles, expect to pay a flat rate (based on one to four passengers).
Meter rates are stand for all companies. The first 1/8 mile costs$1.75 and each 1/8/ mile thereafter costs $0.30. All trips going to the aiport are subject to a $2.25 surcharge while trips coming from the airport are subject to a $6.00 surcharge.
All in all, you should expect to pay between $20-$25 for a trip to downtown Boston. Tipping, while optional, is a standard practice.

Limo
If you've reserved a limousine from a local service you will find it waiting for you at one of the designated limousine stands.

American Airlines departure level, curbside.
Terminal C
Signs will direct passangers to the Central Garage on Level 4. From there, take the pedestrian walkway which will bring you directly to the Limousine Stand.
