On July 17, beachgoers passed by a sculpture resembling a torch that Dan Belcher of St. Louis was working on.

A quarter-million people attended the weeklong festival last year. Spectators can vote for their favorite entry on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. On Sunday, there's an amateur and family competition from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
