
Ten years ago, Northeastern University built one of only 12 NASA centers at major universities nationwide, the Center for Advanced Microgravity Materials Processing. Students are intricately involved in the center's research, which currently focuses on testing materials before and after shuttle flights to determine which would benefit most from being grown in space. They've also been at the forefront of flat panel display and computer chip research. But if you aren't a student or researcher, good luck getting a peek at the projects.
